Making The Right Choice Between Desktop And Laptop

Here's an often asked question when comes the time to buy a new computer. Should I go for a desktop or a laptop? A laptop is a tempting proposition since it takes less space and is, obviously, easy to transport. A laptop can be very useful but before buying one you have to ask yourself a few questions in order to make the right choice between desktop and notebook.

If you travel a lot, or if you need to bring with you your computer on the job, at university or elsewhere then the choice is clear, it's of course a laptop that you need. If you are thinking about buying a laptop because you think you may have to take it to different places later on, read on. Don't forget the convenience of USB sticks that in most cases negate the need fot carrying a laptop, provided there is a computer where you are going of course.

If you are a gamer or use softwares that use a lot of computing power then you will need a computer that packs a punch. To have a laptop powerful enough to satisfy you, you will need to pay two to three times more than you would for a desktop computer for the same computing power. It is then in this cas a matter of budget and priorities.

You also have to ask yourself the type of screen you want to have. Laptops have small high resolution screens since you are working quite close to the screen with them. If you want to enjoy DVDs on your computer then a bigger screen will offer far better viewing comfort. There are laptop computers with a bigger screen than usual but of course this means they are bigger. If you really need to be on the go with your computer but wish to optimize your computer equipment at the same time then you can go for a laptop to which you'll add a variety of peripherals when at home.
The choice between desktop and laptop is then a question of priorities; what do you value most? Ease of transport, price or power...
